Social Media Misunderstandings

Maybe I get too involved with social media. In fact, I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time I've unwittingly posted something on Facebook or Twitter that someone has taken the wrong way and been upset and hurt over. I don't think some people realize just how sarcastic I am, and how much I like to write certain things just to hear the feedback from others and see their point of view. Turns out I offended someone with a post that was meant to be funny, and was unrelated to anything else. These misunderstandings happen easily through texting as well, mainly because it's so hard to read the emotion in the words.

However, I'm one of those incredibly awesome people who...once I've already dug myself into a hole, I can't ever get out. I stumble, my words come out wrong, and I tend to just make everything worse.Hmmm maybe being a communications major hasn't really helped me in all aspects of my life.

So what do do in a situation like this? I've already tried the apology thing, and that did NOT work. I'm at a total loss. Help?

  1. Be yourself; don't just live to please others. A kind person like yourself naturally cares about another person's feelings, but sometime you can't make them happy. Chances are if they dislike what you are, they really aren't your friends and aren't worth your time anyway.
