For all you fellow college students out there or even those of you who work less then normal hours; I'm sure you can relate to my stories of going to Wal Mart at midnight or later to buy grocery's, or for a little random excitement. Sometimes it feels like my friend and I do this on a daily basis. In all reality, midnight and later is the best time to shop at Wal Mart for a couple of reasons. First, it isn't busy so waiting in line is kept to a minimum - plus less stupid people to stand behind. You know the ones I'm talking about; the people who have a coupon binder the size of my car but have none of their coupons sorted before they check out. Or those who have forgotten half of their groceries and make the cashier hold their purchase while they "run" to the back of the store to get what they're missing. But really the second reason for shopping at midnight is purely for entertainment value. I think most of the pictures posted on PeopleOfWalMart.com were taken in the late night or wee hours of the morning. Interesting people come out late at night...perhaps even people who do not venture out during the day. I remember I once ran across a man singing to DVD's in the movie isle.
Our adventure last night was because I wanted a coffee maker. Not just any coffee maker, but one of the beautiful models with a timer that will have my coffee brewed by the time I drag myself out of bed in the morning. Our shopping mission was accomplished - I found exactly what I was looking for at the low cost of $16. Woke up this morning with visions of coffee beans dancing in my head and the smell of coffee in my somewhat delirious mind. That smell that was obviously only part of my anticipation and imagination because as I walked to the kitchen I found....pure failure. I have come to the conclusion that I now own a coffee maker that I have no idea how to use. Everyone's response? "Read the manual". Easier said then done. I remember it took me hours to put a $25 bookcase together, and I'll never forget all of those burnt cookies from not reading the recipe correctly. Maybe I need a class on how to follow directions? Or maybe these Android phones should have Apps for these things.
